Are Name Cards Still Useful As A Referral Tool?
Monday, May 31st, 2010Every business person has a business card. You have a calling card and you pass it to potential clients, friends, people you meet, etc. However, can you tell whether those business cards are helping your business? With the widespread use of search engines like Google.com, is the name card still a useful networking tool?
The answer is… OF COURSE!
However, there are ways to make sure your business card is more effective to get you business.
1) Make your name card design bold. Don’t be scared to use strong colors, bold pictures. Anything to make people remember your card.
2) Make it FUN! There’s no rule saying business cards must be rectangle shaped. One of my most successful business card was in the shape of a monkey’s face. I attended an internet strategies seminar and passed 4-5 cards to people I spoke to. Lo and behold, people started coming up to me ASKING for a card. “Hey, can I have one of your cool monkey cards, please?”. When was the last time someone said that to you?
Some practical ideas. If you’re selling double umbrella stroller, you can make your name card shaped like a stroller. Or if you’re selling computers, what about having your card in the shape of a mouse (a computer mouse, of course!). Things like that will get you noticed and remembered!
